"Sidewinder Project" Cx650 / Tim Turboracer

- " "Sidewinder Project" The name comes from a variant of the "Honda CX 650" line about 12 made by Honda in the early 1980's . To say the originals are rare is an understatement. These motorcycles were used b Honda for a works Flat Track Racing team. This motorcycle is still at "Prototype" stage , I purchased the original motorcycle from Daniel christian Daniel Christian Ludwigsen some two years ago. Daniel was the creator for the rolling chassis based on a Honda CB 750 front and rear end, with is own designed "Ladder type" centre to hold the Honda CX 650 engine. I have changed the engine to a GL 650 and made changes to the rear cover , now the left engine side cover. This means the ignition timing is now back to coming from the crankshaft, and not the camshaft as in the original. Also now it has an inboard starter motor. To do this I had the crant flywheel machined almost to nothing and several aluminium welding projects on the now left side cover. The cooling was also an issue with a small radiator situated in the front half fairing. I have added and electrical water pump, and an electric air fan , the heat issues are now under control. I have taken it down Gainesville Raceway 1/4 mile, taking it very easy it mad 96 MPH . Gear change issues then stopped play. The gear change is now sorted. In all I took about 9 pounds weight of the flywheel. This means the engine revs up MUCH quicker than a standard Honda GL 650 . " -
